Term 3 - World War 2
This term, our topic is World War 2. We will be learning when and why World War 2 began, discover all about evacuation, food rationing and woman during the war.
Our Power of Reading book this term is Rose Blanche, which is set during World War 2.
PE days are Mondays and Thursdays.
Term 2 - The Tudors
This term, our topic is The Tudors. As an introduction to this, we will be visiting Leeds Castle and carrying out a workshop called The Artful Henry, which will include activities such as exploring art and portraits of this time period.
Our Power of Reading book this term is Treason by Berlie Doherty, which is set during the reign of King Henry VIII.
From week beginning Monday 4th November, our PE days will be on Mondays and Thursdays. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school, including long tracksuit bottoms / joggers, a t-shirt, jumper and trainers.
In December, Kestrels and Owls will be attending the carol service at Rochester Cathedral. A letter with more information about this visit will be sent home this term.
Term 1 - Our Changing World
This term, our topic is Our Changing World. We will discover some of the many ways in which the world around us is changing. From coastal erosion to political changes, there are many factors at work. We will also learn about the structure of the United Kingdom and how its shape and geography have changed over thousands of years.
Our PE will be Swimming every Monday. Please ensure your child brings in their swimming costume/trunks, a towel and a waterproof bag. Swimming hats and goggles are optional. Please also remember long hair must be tied back and jewellery cannot be worn during these sessions.

In Term 1, our PE will be Swimming every Monday. Our first session is on Monday 9th September. Please ensure your child brings in their swimming costume/trunks, a towel and a waterproof bag. Swimming hats and goggles are optional. Earrings will need to be removed and hair tied back.
Homework will be set online on SPAG.com and IXL.com on Fridays and be due in the following Wednesday. Your child will receive another copy of their login and password at the beginning of the year. We will be running a lunchtime homework club on Tuesdays if your child is unable to access the internet at home.
Children should be reading daily at home. Please remember to sign your child's diary.
Spellings are taught daily through a range of activities. A term's spelling list will be sent home at the beginning of each term. Every Monday, your child will have a list of 10 spellings to learn ready for a spelling test on Friday. Practise at home will greatly enhance your child's understanding of the spelling patterns being taught.
